Greater Paterson Opportunities Improvement Center (GPOIC) Organization Information

The Greater Paterson OIC, part of a national network of affiliates, was established in 1971. Since our inception we have been successfully providing residents of the Passaic County communities with both employment and life skills training. The Greater Paterson GPOIC is, and remains committed to helping people reach their personal and professional goals, and improving their overall quality of life.

GPOIC has been providing employment training and related services to the poor, unemployed, and under-employed for over 39 years. As a private, Non-Profit Community Based Organization, the GPOIC is an approved New Jersey Department of Education Vocational Training Partner. Throughout its history, GPOIC has worked in collaborative partnerships with other agencies and organizations to offer our customers appropriate services, and continues to employ staff and associates with the specialized skills needed to give the quality of service that the organization demands and our customers deserve.

GPOIC is a modern fully equipped learning center. The facility maintains state-of-the-art computer systems and high quality audio/visual equipment, which permits the type of “hands on” activities that reinforces learning, and provides customers with the skills they will need in today’s job market. GPOIC incorporates a multi-tiered instructional approach, which includes classroom instruction to explain conceptual information, student exchange of opinions and ideas, hands-on instructor lead exercises, periodic assessment test, and independent student lab time. In our most recent participant evaluation survey GPOIC received a 92% approval rating from program customers.

GPOIC conducts nationally recognized certification courses in Information Technology, Customer Service, Sales, Microsoft Office, and Small Business Accounting, GPOIC is a an approved Microsoft Academy, a Microsoft Office Specialist training and testing center, a QuickBooks Education Partner, and an approved training partner of the International Business Training Association.
