Customer Service
The CBP™ Customer Service Certification provides the foundation for quality customer service and focuses on building life-long customer relationships by developing effective customer-care strategies.
The CBP™ Customer Service certification module provides guidelines for emerging technologies such as Internet Chat. Additionally, this module uses various hands-on and interactive scenarios to develop the foundation customer care skills needed to provide excellence in service.
Sales
The CBP™ Sales Certification lays the foundation for professional selling by developing the selling process using effective sales methodologies. You will learn the skills and tactics of the leading sales professionals and take part in interactive scenarios to master those skills.
The CBP™ Sales certification module covers all the major sales stages and teaches the best practices in the sales industry.
TECHNOLOGY TRAINING
Microsoft Office
The technology training component of the Greater Paterson OIC exists to provide both the essential business skills, and core technological skills we believe our students will need in order to compete in today’s job market.
Our training focus centers on helping our students develop certifiable proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite of productivity software applications which includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook. Microsoft Office remains the dominant suite of applications utilized in the current business environment; therefore, training in these applications remains relevant.
BUSINESS FINANCIAL TRAINING
Managing Small Business Finances with QuickBooks
This course teaches our students how to maintain the books for a small business and develop a basic understanding of how businesses use financial data to make decisions. Students can also become Certified QuickBooks Users by passing the QuickBooks certification exam.
SUPPORTIVE SERVICES
Strive to Drive is an innovative program designed to help individual’s overcome employment transportation barriers Services are provided to assist customers obtain their driver’s license, and when possible secure a donated automobile.
Course components and class amenities include:
• Identifying key terms needed to pass the NJ Driving permit test
• Acquiring study habits that will increase your learning and vocabulary
• Quizzes and tests that will help you pass the NJ Driving permit test
• A one-time ride to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles to take permit test
• Set up for driving lessons (three free lessons) through KLM Driving School
These programs are made possible with the funds provided under the auspices of the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Passaic County Workforce Investment Board, Work First New Jersey Program, under grants from the State of New Jersey Department of Labor and Department of Human Services Division of Family Development.
COMMUNITY SERVICE and EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
21st Century After School Program
The Greater Paterson OIC partners with the Paterson Board of Education to offer the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Afterschool Program to middle school students grades 5-8. The program is conducted at Paterson Public Schools 4 and 13. This after-school program is designed to meet the 21st CCLC requirement in assisting low-performing schools and economically-disadvantaged families to receive a quality education their community.
GPOIC’s 21st CCLC after-school program operates inside each school and runs 5 days a week Monday-Friday, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm during the school year. Activities include tutoring, academic remediation; New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJASK) preparation; instruction in language arts, reading, math, and science; youth leadership activities; volunteer and community service opportunities; college preparation; prevention programs; homework assistance; courses and enrichment in the arts and culture; language instruction (including employment preparation or training) mentoring; supervised recreation, athletic programs and events.
Specialized workshops are offered to both adults and youth. Adult workshops include parenting, financial, and computer literacy. Youth workshops are used to stimulate and communicate messages and incorporate creative writing, arts, drama, media, music and dance to show the youth how to express their feelings constructively and as a tool to channel emotions that they may be experiencing. At least four educational field trips are planned for the youth to participate in during the course of the school year. Additionally, students are provided a healthy snack at the beginning of the program and a full, complete dinner during the last hour of the program
